Our diverse Board of Directors comprises Primary Care Clinicians and Community Leaders who collaborate to drive positive change, enhance healthcare outcomes, and promote the overall health and well-being of our patients and communities. The Primary Care Clinicians contribute extensive medical expertise and insights, while the Community Leaders bring a deep understanding of community dynamics and the challenges faced by underserved populations. This collaborative approach ensures well-informed decisions that prioritize both clinical efficacy and community needs, reflecting our commitment to inclusivity and responsiveness to the evolving healthcare landscape.

CHAIRDr. Cleave is a Family Physician and Medical Director of the High-Complexity Care Team at Eagle Creek. He has practiced medicine in multiple provinces and countries and has worked tirelessly in greater Victoria to advocate for equitable access to primary care.

VICE-CHAIRChris Innes is a Pharmacist and Manager of Millstream Pharmasave in Langford. He brings his extensive experience with Westshore patients to his advocacy with the Westshore Primary Care Society.

DIRECTOR-AT-LARGE
Kiersten was born and raised in the Westshore and chose to return to the area to raise her family. She spent over a decade working in the BC Ministry of Health, including 4.5 years as the Executive Director of Seniors Services. Currently an Executive Director in the Ministry of Education and Child Care, Kiersten is a relational leader with extensive public policy experience and strong communications skills.

TREASURERDr Ross had a family practice in View Royal from 2006-2022. In June of 2022 she transitioned her practice to the Westshore Community Health Centre (WSCHC) and assumed the role of Medical Director of the WSCHC. She is also involved in medication education as Site Faculty at the Victoria Site of the UBC Family Practice Residency Program.

DIRECTOR-AT-LARGEDr. Barco is a Full-Service Family Physician at Esquimalt Medical Clinic practicing since 2015. She has advocacy experience both at the local level and federally on issues affecting patients in our region.

Director-At-LargeDr Neil Solomons s a UK trained physician-scientist. He is a board certified anesthesiologist, who has worked in biotech and pharmaceutical drug development for 25 years, moving to Victoria in 2004 to lead a clinical program in rare diseases for Aspreva pharmaceuticals. In 2011 he co-founded Aurinia Pharmaceuticals, taking a novel medication through to FDA approval in US and Europe, and is an author on over 20 peer reviewed publications including The Lancet and New England Journal of Medicine. He currently sits on advisory boards for a number of biotech companies.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTORAlyssa was born and raised in the western communities and continues to reside there. Her current roles include the implementation and evaluation of Acute Care programs with a focus in Emergency Medicine with Island Health, and running MBL Medical Consulting who advocates and provides resources and supports for the privatized medical sector and the conventional medical sector in remote communities.
Our Staff
The Westshore Primary Care Society Bylaws dictate we must have at least one member of each group present to achieve quorum. This ensures that our projects are the result of a sincere and robust partnership of Physicians and the Community they serve.
